Michelle Janikian is a journalist focused on drug policy, culture, and education. She is passionate about telling inspiring medical cannabis and psychedelic stories, as well as educating the public on the science behind the medical benefits of these criminalized substances. Her work has taken her to explore the legal landscape and cultural implications of cannabis legalization in the U.S. and Latin America, especially in Mexico and Colombia. She strongly believes ending cannabis prohibition and the “War on Drugs” can greatly benefit society, both in the U.S and abroad.
Michelle Janikian started reporting as a freelancer in 2016, mostly for High Times. By 2017, she had written for Rolling Stone, Teen Vogue, Big Buds Mag, among others. In late 2017 she became a regular contributor to Playboy on all things drugs-related, from why you should trip with your significant other to how the plant-based drug, Kratom, is saving lives. She also became a staff writer at Herb magazine in early 2018, where she’s focused on creating educational, evergreen content on the medical and recreational uses of cannabis and CBD.
